The Iberia Visa Signature Card is a premier credit card designed for individuals who frequently travel and value exclusive benefits. With a focus on rewarding travel enthusiasts, this card offers a range of perks and privileges. Cardholders can earn generous rewards points on eligible purchases, which can be redeemed for flights, upgrades, and other travel-related expenses.

Beyond travel rewards, the Iberia Visa Signature Card extends benefits like purchase protection, and travel accident insurance to ensure peace of mind and added convenience.

If you tend to travel with Iberia, this card can offer some lucrative perks and benefits. The ticket discount alone should easily offset the modest annual fee and you can benefit from Avios bonuses if you meet the spending requirements.

  • 10% Off Iberia Flights
  • $1,000 Discount Upon Requirements
  • Baggage Insurances
  • No Foreign Transaction Fees
  • Purchase Protections
  • No Lounge or Baggage Perks
  • High Spending Requirements
  • Lackluster Rewards
  • Limited Reward Flexibility

How do I redeem rewards?

If you want to redeem your Avios, you will need to log into the Iberia website. Iberia has award charts that are distance based, so you can explore the potential cost of fares. You can then search for flights as normal, but the Avios price will be displayed along with the cash price.

How hard is it to get an Iberia Visa Signature card?

In addition to needing good to excellent credit for this card, it is subject to Chase’s 5/24 rule. This means that if you’ve opened five new credit card accounts within the last 24 months, your application will be declined regardless of your credit status. This applies to all credit card accounts regardless of the issuer, so you may need to time your application carefully.

When it may not be a good idea?

Since this is a co-branded card, it is not a good idea for those who don’t regularly fly with Iberia. It is also not a good option if you want to earn decent rewards on your everyday spending. There are more general travel rewards cards that offer higher rewards rates for various purchases including non travel expenses that may be more lucrative for you.

Pros and Cons

Just like any other credit card, the Iberia Visa Signature Card has some advantages and disadvantages:

Pros
Cons
10% Off Iberia Flights
No Lounge or Baggage Perks
$1,000 Discount Upon Requirements
High Spending Requirements
Baggage Insurances
Lackluster Rewards
No Foreign Transaction Fees
Limited Reward Flexibility
Purchase Protections

One of the most attractive perks of this card is that you can get 10% off all Iberia flights. This discount is available for round trips on Iberia and does not include partner airlines.

The discount does not apply to carrier charges, taxes or fees, including excess baggage fees and seat assignment fees. This is a great feature that is not available on many other travel cards.

You can earn a $1,000 discount voucher which you can use for two tickets on the same flight.

This discount voucher is offered each year, but you’ll need to meet the spending requirement of at least $30,000.

The card offers baggage delay insurance, which provides reimbursement of up to $100 per day for three days if your bags are delayed for six hours or more to cover essential purchases such as clothing or toiletries.

There is also lost luggage reimbursement if your checked or carry on bags for you or your immediate family member are lost or damaged. This has a coverage limit of $3,000 per passenger.

You won't be charged any fees for making purchases abroad with the Iberia Visa Signature Card. While this is usually common for airline cards – this is a nice benefit

New purchases that you make with your card are covered against theft or damage for 120 days. This coverage has a claims limit of $500 per claim and $50,000 per account. There is also an extended warranty for an additional year on eligible items.

Unlike many Chase co-branded credit cards, the Iberia Visa Signature does not offer any lounge access or baggage perks.

This means that you can’t expect an enhanced airport experience as a cardholder.

The welcome bonus has a high spending requirement to qualify for the bonus Avios. Additionally, if you want the annual discount voucher, you need to be prepared to meet a high spending requirement.

Considering this is not a premium card, the spending requirements appear to be on the high side.

Outside of Iberia direct purchases, the rewards are fairly lackluster. If you want to use this card for everyday purchases, you will struggle to accumulate sufficient Avios for award flights.

Additionally, there is limited flexibility in redeeming your awards. Unlike many reward programs, you are limited to Iberia and British Airways, Aer Lingus, and Qatar Airlines.

For example, you can get access to more than 20 partners if you redeem Delta miles.

Who Should Consider The Iberia Visa Signature Card?

Since this is a co-branded card, it is best for those who are brand loyal to Iberia. If you fly regularly with this airline, you will be able to get the most value from the card benefits and rewards program. This includes a discount on all Iberia flights, which can save you even more money.

The card could also be a good option for those who typically fly with Iberia partner airlines. Although you won’t be able to get the ticket discount on partner flights, you will be able to exchange your Avios to pay for award flights.

Tips for Using the Iberia Card

To make the most of your airline and travel credit card, here are the key strategies to maximize your benefits:

The baggage coverage will only kick in if you’ve paid for your fare with your Iberia Visa Signature card. So, even if you’re not booking an Iberia flight, be sure to pay for your common carrier ticket with your card.

The card offers a generous 10% discount on Iberia tickets, but you need to book directly with the airline. So, be sure to check the prices with Iberia and on third party flights to see which offers you the best deal.

Although the typical 3% foreign transaction fee may seem inconsequential, this small fee can quickly add up when you’re traveling on business or you’re on vacation.

Fortunately, the Iberia Visa Signature does not have foreign transaction fees, so keep it in your wallet when you’re abroad.

FAQs

There are no official income requirements for the card, but you do need to have good to excellent credit to qualify. Although Chase will check your income, it is not the only factor that will be considered when making an approval decision.

Chase does typically offer pre approval for its cards including the Iberia Visa Signature. You can sign in as a customer or as a guest to check if you qualify for the card. Chase may also send out mailers offering pre approval for this or other cards.

Yes, since this is a Visa Signature card, when you use your card to rent a vehicle, you’ll automatically receive auto rental coverage. This provides insurance against theft of and physical damage to the vehicle.

Credit Card Reviews Methodology

In order to determine the best possible credit cards, we look at things like fees, interest rates and rewards. We do this with companies that are associated with us as partners as well as other offerings. From there, we make a decision about what the best card is related to different categories and needs. We focus on interest rate cost & fees, especially the cost of carrying a balance, rewards – cards accumulate rewards in different currencies—points, miles, cash back—and their values vary widely usability – cards that accept a wide range of credit profiles and offer simple solutions for things like checking your credit score or contacting. We also consider customer reviews.

We look at cards related to good or excellent credit ratings that will then provide a range of different benefits and improvements for someone who has these scores. We also look at low fees when it comes to those who have lower credit scores.
